My jaw still hurts! You see it rarely falls to the floor, and when it does not usually as hard and fast as it did after reading a certain bit of sports news. The headline reads “The Most Vile Act Ever”, and I have to agree. My disbelief aside, I have to say rugby is one tough game!

For even more entertainment check out financier Charles Keating’s crusade against pornography. Did you know that porn was brought into this country by communists? Dirty, Dirty communists… Well hopefully John Ashcroft can save us from the red menace. He’s no Ed Messe, but he’s all we’ve got!!

Prediction: This next year will be the year Napster comes to film. Ok Napster is long dead and fake files have crippled current P2P champ Kazaa. But file trading keeps evolving. New apps are being created and recent court decisions suggest they might be legal. Plus, broadband is finally taking off here in the States, and more bandwidth means larger files will be downloaded. Finally, new movies are appearing online before they reach theatres.

Recently, flicks such as the Hulk and 28 Days Later were made available online weeks before their official releases. These weren’t your average bootlegs made by some moron with a shaky video camera. These were near DVD quality copies. Worse still, they aren’t just in hard to use newsgroups or IRC Fserves, these are freely available to anyone right from the web.

Mark my words, in next twelve months we will be hearing a great deal about film piracy. The question is whether or not the MPAA will learn from the RIAA’s mistakes. Will the make films available for download at the same price or less as renting a movie at blockbuster? Who knows?

One thing I do know is that the net has redefined the role of middlemen in the economy. We no longer need companies who only act as distributors of media since it can be sold directly from producers to consumers. What we need now are aggregators, people who put all the content in one place. Apple seems to understand this, does anyone else?

Sometimes things break. Sometimes many things break in rapid succession. This month has been one of those times. It started with my monitor. The cool blue and white Mac-monitor I paid an arm and a leg for when they were stylish, is now totally trash. It was replaced with a larger monitor, bright and clear, and sure to deteriorate my vision even further.

After the monitor, the bathroom light fixture, which has been hanging tenuously for months, finally fell off the wall. Fortunately, some power tools and testosterone seemed to have stuck it back in place temporarily. Then came the cologne bottle, which after being dropped, decided to no longer spray its expensive juices on my skin. And it goes on… the worst thing has been my computer which, after two years of stellar service, now can’t stay on for more then 15 minutes before it restarts itself. Needless to say this has put a damper on my school work, as well as my job hunt, not to mention my blogging.
